Sauna prices in Ireland and the UK
We collected 368 listed prices from 55 sauna sellers in Ireland and the UK. “From” is the cheapest product of that type we found; “typically” is the middle of the range, so half the products cost less and half cost more.

Two things push the price up more than anything else: size and timber. A two-seat spruce barrel and an eight-seat thermowood cabin with a changing room and a glass front are both “garden saunas”, but one can cost five times the other. A heater or stove of the right size is usually included; check which one.
The full bill: what to add to the sauna price
| What it is | Ask the seller | |
|---|---|---|
| Base | A level, drained base: a concrete pad, paving slabs or ground screws | What base do you need, and do you lay it? |
| Electrics | A dedicated circuit from the fuse board, an isolator and certification; sometimes a three-phase supply | What supply does this heater need? |
| Flue | For a wood stove: an insulated chimney kit and heat shields | Is the flue included, and how tall is it? |
| Delivery and access | Delivery to your door; some prebuilt saunas need a crane or a hiab lorry | Is it delivered flat-packed, in panels or in one piece? |
| Assembly | Building a kit on site, from a few hours to a few days | Is assembly included? |
| VAT and duty | Irish VAT at 23% and UK VAT at 20% on most goods; duty on cross-border orders | Is the price including VAT and delivered? |
| Extras | Lighting, a sauna stove guard, buckets and ladles, a cold plunge, a changing room or porch | What comes in the box? |
In Ireland, the CRU says only a Registered Electrical Contractor may carry out electrical work in your home.1 In England and Wales, the Planning Portal says electrical work in the home or garden must meet the building regulations.2 Ask your electrician to quote before you order: running a new cable down a long garden is often the biggest extra.
Buying from across the Irish Sea? Revenue says goods sent from Great Britain to Ireland are liable to Customs Duty and VAT.3 Ask for a delivered price with duty, VAT and handling included.
What it costs to run
Harvia says a 6 kW electric heater uses about 7–9 kWh over a two-hour session.4 At Ireland’s average household electricity price of about €0.39 a kWh for the first half of 2026,5 that is roughly €2.70–€3.50 a session. At the UK price cap of 26.32p a kWh from 1 October to 31 December 2026,6 it is about £1.85–£2.35. Twice a week for a year, that is around €280–€365 or £190–£245. A bigger 9 kW heater uses more, a well-insulated cabin less.
A wood-fired sauna costs whatever your firewood costs, usually a basket or two of kiln-dried logs a session. Our wood-fired vs electric guide works it through.

How we wrote this page
Prices, sizes and lead times come from each seller’s own website. Every one links to the page we read, and we last checked them on 22–29 October 2026 for the Olladay sauna industry directory. Prices are the lowest listed for that product, before delivery, base and electrics unless the seller says otherwise, and can change at any time. The running costs are our arithmetic from Harvia’s energy figures and the published electricity prices linked below. Spotted something wrong, or sell saunas and want your prices checked? Email us.
Olladay makes booking software for saunas. Nobody pays to be listed or ranked on these pages, and the tables are in price order, not in order of preference.

Questions
How much does a sauna cost in Ireland?
Irish sellers list barrel saunas from €1,899, with half at €5,549–€7,399. Cabin saunas start at €2,099 and run to €50,500 for large bespoke builds. Add a base, an electrician or a flue, and delivery.
How much does a sauna cost in the UK?
UK sellers list barrel saunas from £2,390, with half at £3,999–£6,560. Garden cabin saunas start at £1,958 for a small kit, with half at £5,415–£24,000. Infrared cabins are listed at £1,199–£4,999.
What is the cheapest type of sauna?
An indoor infrared cabin or a small self-assembly barrel or cabin kit. Infrared cabins plug in without a big heater circuit; a traditional sauna still needs a proper heater, a base and usually an electrician.
Does a sauna add value to a house?
There are no reliable figures for Ireland or the UK. Treat a garden sauna as something you buy to use, not an investment.
How much does it cost to run a sauna?
About €2.70–€3.50 or £1.85–£2.35 for a two-hour session with a 6 kW electric heater at 2026 household prices. A wood-fired sauna costs the firewood.
Is VAT included in sauna prices?
Not always. Some sellers list prices including VAT, some exclude it and many don’t say. Our tables show what each seller states. Always ask for a delivered price including VAT.
