A sauna that the public pays to use costs more than a home sauna, and so does everything around it. Here are the larger saunas Irish and UK sellers list prices for, the other costs a business needs to plan for, and the questions to ask a builder.

What a commercial sauna costs
There is no standard price for a business sauna. Commercial trailers seating 8–14 people are listed at €17,800–€30,200 in Ireland and up to £45,000 in the UK. The largest cabins and bespoke buildings are listed at up to €50,500 and £118,000, before groundworks, power, changing rooms and fees. These are the saunas sellers list from €15,000 or £15,000:

It can pay back. A November 2025 survey by spas.ie counted at least 242 independent saunas in Ireland, most opened since 2020, with typical sessions at €16–€35.1 More saunas also means more competition, so check demand where you plan to open.

Questions to ask a commercial sauna builder
- Is the heater or stove rated for commercial use, and for how many hours a day?
- How many people does it seat on the top bench, and how long does it take to heat from cold?
- What timber, insulation and vapour barrier do you use, and what warranty covers commercial use?
- Who else runs one of your saunas, and can I visit?
- What do you need from me on site: base, power, water, access for delivery?
- What is the lead time, and what deposit secures a build slot?

Questions
How much does it cost to open a sauna business?
A mobile trailer sauna is often the cheapest start: Irish builders list commercial trailers at €17,800–€30,200 and UK builders at up to £45,000. A fixed public sauna with changing and showers costs more, and the site, permissions and insurance add to it.
What is the difference between a home and a commercial sauna?
A commercial sauna runs for many hours a day with more people, so it needs a heater or stove rated for that use, tougher benches and timber, and good ventilation. Ask the seller whether the heater’s warranty covers commercial use.
Is a sauna business profitable?

Do I need insurance for a sauna business?
Yes. Councils and landowners usually ask for public liability cover before agreeing a pitch, and you will want cover for the sauna itself.
